Maga Convention Competition Info
Contest entry fee is $10.
This Competition will be limited to 12 Contestants.
Prizes:
1st Place - Cash Prize of Half the entry pot and $150 Dealer Room gift Certificate.
(1st Place will also get the chance to perform their act on the Maga Convention DVD that will be filmed that weekend.)
2nd Place - $100 dollar Dealer Room Gift Certificate.
3rd Place - $50 dollar Dealer Room Gift Certificate.
Each winner will get a plaque or trophy.
Rules:
You must be a registrant of the convention to participate.
This competition is open to all magicians of all countries and regions. There is No limit to age or sex.
All Judging decisions are final and no appeal will be entertained.
No contestant may be a paid performer at the convention.
No performer will be allowed rehearsal time at the convention.
If you have a cassette or CD you want to use please email us before the start of the Convention.
All contestants must check in with Paul Emanuel on Friday, April 4th at least 30 min before the start of the competition.
No fire is allowed in the competition. So no Flash Paper please.
Each performer will have 8 minutes maximum to compete. Points will be deducted for running over.
Disruption to a contestant's act caused by the sound, lighting or Maga personnel will be allowed to perform again.
The order of appearance of each competitor will be determined by a random selection of the Maga Organization.
You will be asked to sign a copy of these rules before the competition.
Scoring:
You will be scored in this competition by the audience. At the conclusion of the competition the crowd will select each place based on applause. Note that there will be Judges also. Their scores will only come into play if we
have a close and unsure result from the crowd. This judges will score you on the following:
Dress: 20 Points
Technical Skill/Handling: 20 Points
Showmanship/Presentation: 20 Points
Originality: 20 Points
Entertainment Value: 20 Points
Each judge will give a total score up to 100 points to each contestant. After each contest performance, the scores on the judging forms will be added and totaled.
